Danish design traditionally handcrafted in Japan
Established in 1963, Hirata Chair Manufacture is a furniture maker from Morodomi, Japan – a town famed for its furniture production. With roots in chair making, they have since expanded into other furniture, and now produce a wide range spanning from sofas to cabinets. The Hirata Gen Collection is realised through a dedicated collaboration between the craftsmen of Hirata, Danish architect Lars Vejen and Japanese designer Taijiro Ishiko.
I was tasked with developing the website for Hirata Gen Collection, using the brand identity and web design created by one of my colleagues at Ineo Designlab. My role involved translating the design concepts into a fully functional website, ensuring that the final product stayed true to the original vision. This included maintaining the layout, color schemes, typography, and user interface components, while optimizing the site for performance and usability. My goal was to create an interactive, user-friendly experience that aligned with the creative direction set by my colleague.
